IEF Spring 2025 Highlights

As spring moves into summer, we’re excited to share the latest updates from IEF. Take a look at the projects, people, and progress driving positive change across the Ionian islands.

Newsletter Highlights 

• We joined 19 sister foundations at the Conservation Collective’s Global Gathering in Cyprus, returning energised and ready to scale our impact across the Ionian.

• Our first grant call of 2025 is now closed, with exciting proposals from across the Ionian Islands rolling in.

• We warmly welcome Sophia Michalopoulou to our Steering Committee, a Corfiot with deep roots in water, nature, and community care.

• Progress through the new protection measures announced for Formicula, thanks to long-term advocacy by the Ionian Dolphin Project, iSEA & Blue Marine Foundation

• Our charity swim, Albania Overboard, gained international attention, featured on Channel 5’s Jewel of the Med with Joanna Lumley!

• Workshops for the Marine Mammal Strandings Response Network in Corfu & Zakynthos, and Regenerative Farming in Paxos.

• The Festival of Butterflies honours Gerald Durrell’s 100th with island-wide events in Corfu.
