5 APPROACHES WITH SIMPLE TIPS TO HELP YOUR VILLA AND YOUR CLIENTS TREAD MORE LIGHTLY ON THE PRECIOUS IONIAN ENVIRONMENT NEXT SEASON:

1.Plastic Reduction:

Ø We have eliminated at least 3 single-use plastic products from our business, eg: plastic straws, plastic cups, plastic cutlery, plastic bags.

Ø We have introduced reusable alternatives for the replacement of single-use plastic water bottles:

Ø We source refillable cleaning products

Ø We use laundry baskets/sacs instead of plastic bags

2. Composting/Organic Waste Management:

Ø We have a compost bin to throw organic waste or/and supply a neighbour with organic waste for their animals/compost.

3. Waste Separation Facilities:

Ø We make sure our business has a recycling system for all categories of waste (plastic, glass, paper).

Ø We make sure that we deliver the non-compost to a recycling centre if applicable.

4. Water Conservation Efforts:

We have completed at least 2 of the following actions:

Ø installed aerated showers/taps

Ø reduced cistern size on loos to reduce water usage.

Ø Installed dual flush for low flush option

Ø Use a sterna or other stores to harvest rainwater over the winter or to use in pool

5. Renewable Energy/Energy Conservation Efforts:

We have completed at least 2 of the following:

Ø installed solar panels

Ø installed energy-efficient air con units

Ø installed ceiling fans instead of/to complement air con units

Ø displayed polite reminders to guests to turn off air con when not in the room or at night
